Machine shorthand is the method by which we record English on shorthand machine.
The shorthand machine has a keyboard that is divided into three separate and distinct sections.
Beginning with the left side of the keyboard, the first four pairs of key make up what we call the initial consonants. They are the keys used to begin words.
The second group is the four keys located in the middle of the keyboard and a little below the other keys. These are the vowels.
The third and last group of keys to the right on the keyboard. They are the last five pairs of keys and are the final consonants. These are used to complete words sounds.
